Our budget runs from the 13th day of one month to the 12th day of the next since that is the billing period of our two main credit cards.  That’s when I can see the complete list of our expenditures easily.

A couple of weeks ago, I got around to posting that we went over our March – April 2011 budget by about $250.  Well, I just ran the numbers for April – May 2011 and we did WAY better.  Here’s how it worked out for our April – May 2011:

Thankfully we stayed under budget with our electricity and toll roads to make up for going over budget with gasoline and miscellaneous bills.  The miscellaneous bills included the extra $50 I had to pay to replace my smart phone and $75 for gifts.  Gas prices just suck and we have been taking weekend trips (thank gosh for a Prius or it would have been much worse), but that should change for this coming month.  Our next big trip isn’t until our summer vacation and we’ll be taking a plane that has already been paid for.  🙂
