Do You Fit Fun Into Your Life? New Challenge!!!

The daily grind can get overwhelming.  An endless list of tasks to check off and only 24 hours in a day.  But when you look back on the last 50 years, are you going to be proud of making sure all of the laundry got done OR will you remember those times you spent with friends and family?  I know way too many people that keep putting off the fun stuff in life, so I have thought up a little challenge for all of us.

The Fit in Some Fun Challenge

Here is your challenge, should you choose to accept it.  You now have two weeks to fit in something fun.  Please comment below with what you are aiming to do and we’ll all meet back here in two weeks to make sure we all won the challenge.  Let’s make some real memories!

Here are “rules” of the challenge:

1.  Anything “fun” counts.  If you have been meaning to take your kids to feed the ducks or have a date night with your significant other, this is your chance.

2.  Try to choose something that you weren’t going to do anyway.  If you have a date night every two weeks anyway, feel free to use this opportunity to fit in something else.

3.  Cost doesn’t matter.  The point of this challenge is to fit in fun.  Your idea of fun could be free or cost hundreds of dollars.  Doesn’t matter.  Just choose a goal and stick to it.  🙂

My Goal

Okay, so I am splurging.  My Fit-in-Some-Fun Goal will be to attend the Board Game Geek Convention (BGG Con) in Dallas, TX next week.  It’s 5 days of pure geekdom.  I am trying to get all of my posts scheduled early and will be attempting to stay on top of my emails while we are staying at a hotel, but my goal is to geek out as much as possible with my husband and our friend, Isabelle.

Mr. BFS and I have been spending like crazy and we’re feeling it.  October was all about closing on our new home and settling in.  November has been more of the same plus a few early Christmas gift purchases online.  BGG Con is going to cost a bit too.  But we are covering all of these costs with the cash on hand we keep from the bowling alley job that Mr. BFS has, and we’ll go on a spending freeze in January as usual.  We always seem to spend a bit more the last quarter of the year…

The ticket to attend BGG Con was $85 per person and the hotel will run another $320 for the 4 nights.  So we are looking at a minimum of $500 plus food.  We are going to try to keep that to less than $150 overall.  I’ll see how we do.  But no matter what, there will be fun.

Your Challenge

So, what do you want to fit in within the next 2 weeks?  Are you having a date night for the first time in a while?  Are you playing a whole evening of hide and seek with your kids?  Or does a movie night in (or out) with your friends sound good?  Please comment below with your goal and we’ll see what we all were able to accomplish in two weeks!

For me it is really important to strike a balance between work and life. There are times when work takes over but I try to follow such periods with a vacation. Even if we are staying local but it helps us spend some quality time

Two weeks from yesterday we’ve hired a Native Thai chef to come to our home and cook for us, and 7 friends. She’ll explain what herbs and spices she uses, and how they benefit the body. It’s 4 courses and is more food then a normal person can eat. Therefore we’ve planned it as a Lupper!

  3. We just went on a cruise so that was our big fun goal. We are trying to get back to normal now and prepare everything so things go smoothly after my girlfriend’s foot surgery in a week.

We just bought a zoo membership so my goal is to get to the zoo again soon!

Great challenge! I finally am starting to fit a little more fun in my baby-centered life. The babe and I attend a library singing group together once a week, so we’re finally having more fun. The hubs and I also went out for dinner (sans baby) for the first time in six months — fun, fun!

For the challenge, I think I’ll try to find one more fun thing to do. There’s a story hour at the library, too, that’s really hard for me to make, but it is a lot of fun. Going one week will be my goal 🙂

Great challenge and I love that you should be adding something that you wouldn’t normally be doing. I think I am going to add that I have to not only do something fun but also add that it must be free as well. LOL

What a good idea! I hope you do a blog post on BGG Con afterwards. I can’t wait to hear about it.

I think I’d like to take on the challenge of being open to being more spontaneous for two weeks and see what happens.

I’m going to watch the elections at a bar (Doug Fir, Jenna, if you want to join!) instead of at home. Also going dancing. Both are fun things I don’t normally do!

My wife and I just returned from a weekend at the beach. Something I plan on adding to my routines several times a year. It was rerlaxing and fun!

  10. Emily @ evolvingPF

We are having a housewarming party on Saturday! I’m excited for our friends to see our new home!

  11. We did a murder mystery dinner just over a week ago. That was super fun. In the next two weeks, hmm, we want to go ride the polar express train. It’s super fun. It might not start until after Thanksgiving, but I’ll check into it.

Spending quality time with my wife is my idea of fun! It’s really necessary to have quality with your love ones and to fit fun into it. I think it is very necessary to come up with fun activities that you can do together, thing you’re both interested at.

We saw two movies this last weekend and we do not go to the movies very often-it was fun to escape. We will be seeing Lincoln in a couple of weeks as a family and are very excited to start seeing movies more regularly with out teenage daughters.

Looks like we all have either just had a lot of fun or will be fitting some in!!! Let’s see how we all do in 2 weeks!

  15. Crystal @ BFS

@Lance, best wishes with that foot surgery!

  16. Crystal @ BFS

@Emily, we are having our housewarming party with hubby’s family this Saturday too! Good luck to both of us. 🙂

@Frugal Portland – We are going to East Burn to watch. Thanks for the invite though!

In the next 2 weeks I’m celebrating my boyfriend’s birthday. I created some personal goals which includes operating on a tighter budget! This will force me to come up with more creative (and budget friendly) ideas. Totally stepping out of my element (never thought of myself as “creative”). To see what I come up with should be fun- lol!

Had a 007 double feature movie night with friends and with pizza bought with a coupon (we fed five people for fifteen bucks, which I’m happy for). Also bought a new flat screen (we were the last dinosaurs with our tube tvs) that I bought with cash from babysitting. It was a blast.
